The Solution: We made use of the existing elevation change from the front to the back yard creating an overall feel of a relaxing journey to the home.

Taking an existing straight series of stairs, we created landings and switchbacks so one feels as if there is something to stop and look at along the way. From the driveway bordering the entire bottom, the front yard is a display that lends nicely with the retaining walls. Lake side, we created a back yard oasis where there was none. The house, sitting on Lake Michigan, was never in competition for attention until we defined these areas of enjoyment. Now, even with the lack of beach, they still have a place to enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
Overall Effect: A wonderful way to see and experience their home as never before. The owners had always felt they came home and immediately ran inside. Now, they have several enjoyable areas and capture the views outdoors.
